Another day, another blistering report on just how bad an idea Gov. Brownback’s plan to make working Kansans pay for tax breaks for corporations really is.
Today the Wichita Eagle reports (Report: Governor’s tax plan would benefit big companies) that the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities analysis of the Brownback Tax plan refutes the Administration’s claims that shifting the tax burden from the wealthy onto the backs of working Kansans boost job creation.
According to the CBPP report (click here to download the full report) the Brownback Tax breaks for corporations will eliminate the income tax for business owners without any guarantee that those businesses create even a single job.
At a time when the State is facing extra scrutiny for using tax incentives to keep companies in Kansas in exchange for the promise of new jobs (see Boeing), the idea of re-writing our tax system to give away tax incentives without ANY requirements on job creation is stunning.
In addition to the Eagle article above, here is a roundup of some of the recent coverage of the Governor’s attempt to rewrite the tax code and abandon working families.
