At the end of last week Governor Brownback introduced a tax plan that continues to further his agenda and abandon working families and the middle class.
The legislative session is only just getting underway but the Tax debate is dominating the news. The biggest question about the Brownback Tax Cuts for the Wealthy is whether it will destroy the middle class or only make it impossible for working Kansans to ever reach the middle class.
What is clear is that unless you own your own business, then your taxes are likely going UP under the Brownback Tax Cut for Corporations.
Working Kansans will find their taxes increasing despite Gov. Brownback’s focus on lowering their income tax bracket because he is also eliminating exemptions and deductions that were designed to make the Kansas tax system is fair, and to make sure that every Kansan pays his or her fair share.
During his 2010 campaign for Governor, Brownback himself acknowledged that removing tax exemptions was the same as raising taxes and although he said he was opposed to doing that, in order to make the math work on tax breaks for corporations he is going back on his word.
As the debate unfolds in the Legislature, the Working Kansas Alliance will be watching and letting you know who is backing the Governor’s plan to shift the tax burden from corportations onto the shoulders of working Kansans. Stay tuned to our blog for more.
